An 1883 chart of Cape Henlopen and the Delaware Breakwater from the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey. It covers the mouth of Delaware Bay, with the town of Lewes, the breakwater and its light, and the piers along the shore all mapped in detail. Soundings in fathoms are marked across the bay, and the sheet carries two compass roses along with tables of tides and lights. The breakwater was a harbor of refuge, built so ships entering the bay could shelter from Atlantic storms. Unearthed from the NOAA archives and restored by Coast & Horizon's cartographers, meticulously color-corrected. Printed on museum-quality matte paper, 250 gsm archival stock.
