It shows the full island in outline, with its rivers traced inland and its coastal towns named, from Palermo and Messina around to Catania, Syracuse, and Trapani. Mount Aetna is marked, and the Lipari or Aeolian Islands, Ustica, and the Aegadean Islands appear offshore, all set within a plain graticule of latitude and longitude. The sheet accompanied the survey's record of the coral fisheries of Sicily, discovered 14, 21, and 32 miles from shore in 1875, 1878, and 1880. Unearthed from the NOAA archives and restored by Coast & Horizon's cartographers, meticulously color-corrected. Printed on museum-quality matte paper, 250 gsm archival stock.
