An 1877 chart of the southern coast of Long Island from the US Coast & Geodetic Survey, covering the stretch from Montauk Point west to East Hampton. It shows Napeague Bay and Napeague Harbor, Fort Pond and Great Pond, and the lighthouse at Montauk Point, with soundings in fathoms at mean low water across the whole sheet. The village of East Hampton and its surrounding fields appear at the western edge, and Montauk Shoal is marked offshore to the south. Charts like this were produced by the federal survey for vessels rounding Montauk Point, one of the most heavily trafficked turns on the Atlantic coast. Unearthed from the NOAA archives and restored by Coast & Horizon's cartographers, meticulously color-corrected. Printed on museum-quality matte paper, 250 gsm archival stock. Comes in 18x24, 24x36, 28x40, and A0 (33.1x46.8"), with black, natural wood, or white frames.
